Hallo Freunde der Wüste!
Der gute Hubert Auriol gibt nicht auf und startet mit seinem Orga-Team die dritte Heroes Legend.
Heute habe ich ganz frisch das Datum für 2008 bekommen.
Also ran an die Sparbücher und los. Noch ist genug Zeit für die Vorbereitung und Planung:

After the success of this second edition of Heroes Legend, that you have been numerous to watched on our web site during the event, We are now working on the preparation of the 3rd edition of the Heroes Legend !
The main idea of Heroes Legend, is first of all, a different spirit. A spirit made of welfare, friend ship, pleasure to ride like you want, pleasure to discover some new landscapes and pleasure to share an adventure with friends.
The “Classic” Heroes Legend is made for those who are looking for adventure, those who want to defy the desert and live this adventure riding a motorcycle or driving a car.
This raid is a response to most “professional” races organised today, which have become financially unaffordable and physically insurmountable for an amateur pilot. A response to all those have told themselves one day: “Some day, I will go to Dakar!”
Heroes Legend 2008, it is also many innovations who will open more categories to enter this adventure, and make the dream come true: reach Dakar on your bike or in your 4X4 along a “legendary route” that made more than one dreaming for years.
Heroes Legend 2008, is still a team, one team, a name of a team.
Pro driver or beginner, enthusiast or amateur, Heroes Legend is done for you, by you!
The different spirit of “Heroes legend”, is your team. Your goal is to get your team live. Your team exists, make it successful.
It’s you, who is behind the name of your team. Your team is your strength.
Your team has a goal, reach Dakar. Your team has an other goal, the classification. You can decide which one is the most important for you. The overall classification?, The classification by type of bike, or car? by sex?
They are all important for you, but you will choose the one you want!
The classification is done by your good navigation, the road book that you try to follow, but it is done also by the average speed that you try to match. The difference is that you choose your average speed! The average speed, not the speed!!!
The average speed that let you ride like you want, or drive like your car can go, giving you time to share the good moments with your friends, your team, your family.
The route is done to let you discover the “African tracks”, smooth in the beginning so you can take your time to learn, with several sections per day to let you change with your team mates. The route is fast (sometimes), technical (it has to be!), crossing sand dunes (once upon a time…), crossing oasis, but always beautiful landscapes, 360 ° of pure pleasure everyday!

Special feature :
A Team Competition on a legendary route from Paris to Dakar
The dates :
8 to 22 of March 2008 - 2 weeks
The route :
- Start at the Eiffel Tower
- 1 stage in the South of France
- 1 stage in Spain
- Finish in Dakar (Sénégal), Lac Rose
- Countries crossed, Morroco, Mauritanie and Sénégal
- Lenght, 4500km in Africa
- Stages, 500km per day maxi included 2 or 3 regularity sectors (200/300km a day) and possible change of pilots of the team.
The news for the 2008 event :
- 2 vehicles or more, motos or cars, you are a Team !
- A moto, All types of bikes are accepted
- A car, All types of cars are accepted 4x4 or SUV,
- A route for the « race », categories « Classic » or « Open »
- A route for « discovery », choose the category « Bivouac-Bivouac »
- An optional transport of material for all the participant not to load too much the vehicles
The categories :
1 - Category « Classic » open to any off road bike built before 1995. All brands. Free Préparation
2 - Category « Open » open to any off road bikes and 4x4. All brands. Free Préparation
3 - Category « Bivouac-Bivouac » open to any off road and trail bikes and to any 4x4 or SUV cars . Alone or with a Team.
The regulation :
Easy and understandable. Preparation of the vehicles free but always in accordance with the International Driving Code .
Classification « regularity » per categories : Team, Iron Man, Women, and special Challenges per types and cc of bikes
If any problem on a special, the team repairs and starts again the day after with penalty for the classification.
The sécurity :
Each vehicle will be equiped by a satellite tracking system (E-Track)for a live follow, to control the respect of itinerary and also for regularity classification. All the bikes will be also equiped with an additional ‘distress beacon”
A medical team will follow the route onboard of 4x4 and also onboard of the helicopter
