I totally agree with what you said about the decreasing influence of reduced
... a formula in the Mini tuning "bible" that tries to calculate the amount of
pounds that is virtually removed from the car for every pound that is removed
from the flywheel.
(0.5 * n^2 * r^2 * R^2 ) / R^2
n=total gear ratio (primary gears, selected gear in gearbox, final drive)
r=radius of gyration of the flywheel
R=Radius of the wheel
flywheel inertia with taller gearing, but I can't reproduce the formula mentioned
above (which is obviously incorrect as it doesn't equal a number but an area...).
Imho it should be n²r²/R² (R: radius of driven wheel), but I'll have to work on
this some more to be sure...
