Acerbis tank and seat?

Hi

I purchased an 20l Acerbis tank the other day to fit on my 76 xt500. I can get the tank to fit with small modification no problem. But I can't seem to get the seat back on. It's too long now. Does anyone know if there was a shorter seat made to use with the acerbis tank? And does anyone have one for sale?

Many thanks.
Marcel

...the real specialists will answer soon...

The acerbis tank was made for the XT's with aluminium Tank( '80 and later). The aluminium tank is longer than the steel tank and therefor the seat is different.

It should work, with some small modifikations, if you're using the seat of an XT with aluminium tank.
I'm riding an aluminium tank (from a '81) on my '77 and I have to use another seat (from the '80 and later) too.

Hi Hobbes

That makes sense. I'll look into that.

Thanks

Hi Marcel,

nice to meet you here.
I did the same like you want to do. My XT for the EnduRoMania is 1977.
So I put the Acerbis on the frame and took, like hobbes said, a seat from the 1980th.
Then you just have to build yourself a longer steel plate for the front of the seat.
The original is too short. I'll take some pictures for you!

In my case someone else had the Acerbis on an early XT before and he
allready changed the back holder of that gas tank.
Hard to describe, I'll take pictures too!

Greetings to Denmark!
