hi dave, as yamaha is a japanese company i would vote for japan in the first place but on the other hand the XT500 was especially developed for the north american off-road market and was first introduced in las vegas in late 1975...

germany was definetly NOT the first country!

who knows?

Hi Dave,

xtdirk is right. The XT500 is developed for the north american market.

The roll out of the XT 500 started in September 1975, where she was presented on the occasion of the USA dealer presentation.
And as Yamaha then on 10 March 1976 in Las Vegas the media read the large volume four-cycle Enduro XT 500 presented, was the professional world and public equally enthusiastic. In this year the first 50 XT500 were imported to germany from USA!

So I think USA was the first country, but I dont't know anything about the first 1000 bikes.

best regards

frank
